Mission: Cambodia (Partnering with the Lutheran Church in Cambodia)

At Yishun Christian Church (Lutheran), we believe God’s mission extends beyond our shores. As a congregation within the Lutheran Church in Singapore (LCS), we support and participate in the wider Cambodia Mission—walking alongside the Lutheran Church in Cambodia (LCC) as it grows in church planting and development.

How this partnership began
LCS was given the mandate to spearhead the Mekong Mission Forum’s Cambodia mission work since 2008, with the objective of planting and developing Lutheran church life in Cambodia. This work is carried out in partnership with other Lutheran churches and mission agencies.

A growing Lutheran Church in Cambodia
A significant milestone was reached when the Lutheran Church in Cambodia (LCC) became independent with the installation of its first elected Bishop (Nov 2023). The Cambodia Mission continues to work with LCC to strengthen pastoral formation and support the church’s steady steps toward greater self-reliance.

How YCCL is involved
YCCL has been involved in mission trips to Cambodia to encourage and bless believers, and to share the Gospel with those who have yet to know Christ. For example, YCCL’s mission team visited Cambodia in end May 2023, led by our Senior Pastor Rev Dr William Chang, and members shared reflections on witnessing God at work among the people there.

What we aim to do (together with LCC and LCS Cambodia Mission)
Through this partnership, we seek to:

• Encourage and strengthen local believers and communities.

• Support the development of preaching points and church planting efforts, alongside LCC’s vision for Lutheran presence across Cambodia.

• Contribute to long-term capacity building, including the training and resourcing of pastoral workers as part of the broader Cambodia Mission.

How you can take part

• Pray for LCC pastors, workers, and congregations, and for open hearts to the Gospel.

• Give to support mission work and ministry needs.

• Go when opportunities arise, to serve and encourage through short-term mission teams.
