Outreach
At Yishun Christian Church (Lutheran), outreach is a practical expression of Christ’s love and the church’s calling to make disciples. Through local mission, befriending, teaching, music, care for seniors, and engagement with children and families, we seek to welcome people into Christian community, share the Gospel, and walk alongside them with compassion, hospitality, and hope. Over the years, God has opened many doors for YCCL to reach seniors, adults, youths, and children in the community, and we give thanks for His faithfulness in sustaining this ministry.

Our Alpha Course is one way we encourage and equip people to explore the Christian faith in a welcoming and thoughtful setting. In 2025, the English Alpha Course ran from January to March, beginning with the question “Is There More to Meaning of Life?” and covering topics such as who Jesus is, why He died, prayer, the Bible, God’s guidance, and discipleship through Word, Sacrament, fellowship, and service. We thank God that the course helped participants build strong Christian foundations and supported real steps of faith, including baptism and membership transfer.

Church Befriending at YCCL is a ministry of welcome, care, and companionship. Within the church, befrienders warmly receive newcomers and help them feel at home in the life of the congregation. In the community, YCCL has partnered with St Luke’s ElderCare since 2022 to visit seniors in Chong Pang through regular home befriending, offering companionship, emotional support, and encouragement. We thank God that this work was recognised with the North West WeCare Volunteer Award 2024, and we pray that Christ’s love will continue to shine through every visit and conversation.

We thank God for YCCL's outreach to seniors in eldercare centers and nursing homes. At the three St Luke’s centers in Yishun, volunteers regularly served through befriending, prayer, songs, testimonies, and follow-up conversations, with additional seasonal programmes during Easter, Mid-Autumn, and Christmas. At All Saints Home, a team supported Tuesday morning chapel services with devotions, songs, and prayers, while also joining special programmes during festive seasons and commemorative occasions.

With the closure of Lutheran Child Care Centre in December 2025, YCCL launched the Joyful Moments programme to continue building meaningful relationships with former students and their families. The ministry aims to maintain contact with children and parents, share the Gospel, encourage children to attend Sunday School, and invite parents into church life. Through home visits, monthly Meet & Mingle sessions, and tuition support, Joyful Moments seeks to create ongoing points of connection and care for children and families beyond the childcare setting.

Monthly Happy Meals is a seniors’ outreach gathering held in church on the third Monday of each month. Designed for seniors aged 60 and above, including those with limited mobility, each session includes songs, games, social interaction, joyful participation, and a short sharing connected to Christian values or Scripture. What began as a small gathering grew significantly in 2025, with attendance increasing from about 30 participants in June to an average of 60 seniors each month by November, and a special Christmas Happy Meal drawing 85 seniors.

YCCL’s TCM outreach serves both church members and the wider community through Meridian Stretching classes and free consultations led by Bro Chan Kin Hung. The stretching sessions were held on designated Wednesdays across several months in 2025, with an average of about 20 participants per session. Free consultations were also offered regularly on Wednesdays and Sundays, and many participants expressed gratitude for the care, help, and encouragement received through this ministry.

Dialect Fellowship is a regular outreach and fellowship ministry led by Pastor Ng, usually held on Wednesdays or Saturdays each month. Through varied events such as festive celebrations, outings, talks, karaoke, and gospel gatherings, the ministry provides a welcoming spiritual community for seniors and members of the wider neighbourhood. Attendance has grown steadily, with more than half of participants coming from the community, and the 2025 Gospel Rally drew 159 people, including 60 community seniors.

The YCCL Ukulele team actively supports the outreach ministry by bringing music, warmth, and joy to seniors through Happy Meal events and devotional sessions in St Luke’s Eldercare Centres. Their singing and accompaniment have been well received, helping to create a lively, friendly atmosphere where participants can sing together and feel welcomed. Through music, the team contributes meaningfully to YCCL’s wider work of care, connection, and Gospel witness.
