Synopsis of Course
This course carefully distinguishes Law and Gospel—God’s holy demands that expose sin, and God’s saving promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ for sinners—so that the text is not flattened into moral advice or vague spirituality. Lutheran reading also honours the Bible’s literal sense (what the words actually say), attends to genre and history, and understands that the Holy Spirit works through the external Word to create faith. In practice, Lutheran hermeneutics aims at faithful doctrine, clear proclamation, and pastoral application: to convict, to comfort, and to deliver Christ through the preached Word and the Sacraments. There will be practices and assignments on Bible Interpretation on top of the teaching sessions.
